Each year the Western Governors' Association hosts a variety of meetings throughout the region to convene policy experts, exchange information, and foster collective action.
The 2025 Winter Meeting will feature Western Governors and their special guests in public conversations about the most significant issues facing the region.

The first workshop of Utah Governor Spencer Cox's WGA Chair initiative, Energy Superabundance: Unlocking Prosperity in the West, will be held in Idaho Falls, Idaho, on September 22 and 23 at the Idaho National Laboratory.
This workshop, hosted by Idaho Governor Brad Little, will explore topics related to nuclear energy. Policymakers and experts from around the West, including Governor Cox, will participate in discussions examining regulatory and permitting challenges for nuclear energy projects, investment needs and policy frameworks, supply chain challenges, and nuclear fuel cycle constraints.

Native Americans, whether living on or off tribal lands, experience disproportionately higher rates of substandard housing and homelessness and face significantly lower levels of homeownership than other populations. This FREE webinar, scheduled for 12 p.m. MDT on August 26, will explore federal policy recommendations and highlight innovative, Native-led solutions across the West to address affordable housing challenges and enhance the quality of life for Native American communities.

Each year, the Chair of the Western Governors’ Association (WGA) chooses an initiative on which to focus the Association’s convening power and policy prowess. The findings of the WGA Chair initiative are memorialized in an initiative report that is released at WGA’s Annual Meeting.
The Annual Policy Forum is focused on addressing capacity challenges to equip western communities to undertake locally led community and economic development efforts.
