2010 Annual Meeting Activities
SATURDAY, JUNE 26th
Glacier Express Train Ride and Charity Event
Governor Brian Schweitzer and First Lady Nancy Schweitzer will greet passengers on Saturday the 26th as they board the BNSF Railway's Glacier Express for a once-in-a-lifetime, spectacular trip through Glacier National Park. The Park is celebrating its 100th anniversary and proceeds from the trip will directly benefit the Glacier National Park Fund's Centennial Campaign. The First Lady will join participants and lunch will be served in BNSF's vintage, restored business cars. Each car has its own unique history reminiscent of the romantic era of railroading.
Boarding begins at 10:30 a.m. in Whitefish, leaving promptly at 11:00 a.m., and will return at approximately 5 p.m. To sign up, click here to download the ticket order form. The price for registered meeting attendees is $50 and $25 for family members or guests.
SUNDAY JUNE 27th
Sunset Dessert Train Ride – Whitefish to West Glacier Park Entrance
After WGA's opening reception, meeting attendees are invited by BNSF for dessert and drinks on a sunset train ride along the Flathead River to the West Glacier Park Entrance. National Parks Conservation Association - Movie Screening
Another option following the opening reception, is an NPCA film screening of conservation efforts in the Crown of the Continent area, which spans parts of Montana into British Columbia and Alberta, Canada. The film will be followed by a presentation by renowned wildlife biologist Dr. John Weaver of the Wildlife Conservation Society and a short book reading by journalist and author Doug Chadwick from his new book, "The Wolverine Way," published by Patagonia Books. Refreshments will be provided. The movie and presentation will be from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center – Central School.

Ride a Red Jammer Bus
Take a tour through Glacier Park on a Red Jammer Bus, one of the oldest intact fleet of passenger-carrying vehicles, which are cherished icons of Glacier National Park. Passengers will see spectacular views from Logan Pass at 6,664 feet, the highest point on the Going-to-the-Sun road.
Zip Line Tours
Spend an exhilarating two hours zipping through the trees, while harnessed to a cable extended between two towers. Tours accommodate 12 to 14 people and reservations are required.
Alpine Slide
A fun ride for all ages on a luge-like track through the woods. Riders control the speed to make it as exciting or relaxing as they want. Riders must be 48" tall to ride alone, otherwise they must ride with someone over 48."
Walk in the Treetops
Take a 2 1/2 hour educational hiking adventure through the canopy of an old-growth Montana forest, traversing catwalks suspended 70 feet above the forest floor. Tours accommodate 10-12 people and reservations are required.
"Trail Runs Through It" Hiking Activity
Come enjoy a beautiful Montana hiking experience along the new "Trail Runs Through It" hiking trail, located west of Whitefish, about a mile and a half outside of town. It offers a brand new trail system accessible to hikers, bikers and equestrians, thanks to the cooperative efforts of private land owners, the U.S. Forest Service, Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, non-profit organizations and community volunteers. WGA is offering a guided 4-mile moderate hiking excursion along the trail. For more information, click here.
