Report on West-wide Renewable Energy Zone (WREZ) project 
(This WGA project has been proposed to DOE for funding.  DOE has indicated it will support
the project.  WIEB's primary involvement will be in Phase 2, which is the identification of 
transmission needed to move generation from Renewable Energy Zones, however, staff 
will continue to be active in advising on Phase 1, which is the identification of the zones.  
The project should be underway by the April 1 Board meeting).

Report on the Western carbon sequestration partnerships (via teleconference)
(There are four western regional carbon sequestration partnerships.  The Board has been 
briefed by the partnerships during their Phase 1 study work.  The partnerships are now in 
Phase 2 which involve pilot projects injecting CO2 into the ground.  Each partnership has 
negotiated Phase 3 with DOE, which will involve large volume injection of CO2.)

(Electrification of the transportation sector is one of the Board's six climate change-related 
priorities.  Work on this priority has been deferred until the WGA Transportation Fuels 
Report recommendations were completed.  The WGA report was released in February.  
This discussion will emphasize the impact of the deployment of plug-in hybrids on the 
Western grid.)
