Western State Electricity Resource Tracking Meeting

Facilitated by the Washington Office of Trade and Economic Development, Oregon Office of Energy, and the California Energy Commission through a grant from the U.S. DOE.

 

 

8:30 a.m.        Introductions and overview of objectives of DOE sponsored western system resource tracking project

 

8:45 a.m.        Roundtable for each participant to review specific issues for their state in green programs, resource tracking, tradable credits.  (Share survey responses with everyone.)

 

9:15 a.m.        Overview and discussion of current resource tracking models in the west.  Review affordability, benefits, and constraints.

 

10:00 a.m.      APX summary of the New England and or Texas systems; benefits and constraints.

 

10:20 a.m.      Debrief of March 26 meeting on tracking wholesale tradable credits.  Discussion of states’ interests in tradable credits.

 

10:45 a.m.      Discussion of data sources, costs of different approaches - New England’s, Washington.  Can each state obtain generator data?

 

11:15 a.m.      Discussion of environmental characteristics and available data and possible methodologies for enhancing it. (Current proposal is to rely on Egrid data.)

 

11:45 a.m.      Review of next steps on western system tracking, clarify interest levels of various stakeholders in participating, clarify timelines.

 

Noon               Done.  If anyone is interested, the developer of the database and web reporting system that Washington and Oregon use will be available to further review the system, answer questions, consider solutions for current constraints of the system.
