NEW MEXICO SUSTAINABLE ENERGY COLLABORATIVE

Introduction/Background:

The New Mexico Sustainable Energy Collaborative (NMSEC) is a recently formed organization of numerous, diverse entities from both the public and private sectors.   It evolved from the December 2000 New Mexico Alternative Energy Symposium.  The consensus developed at the conference reflected a strong desire to carry forward the momentum of the Symposium and promote energy efficiency and renewable energy through a new organization.  Participants at the Symposium agreed this organization would pursue cleaner, more efficient energy development and use through a cooperative, collaborative approach.  NMSEC is the entity envisioned by Symposium participants.

The Energy Conservation and Management Division of the New Mexico Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department facilitates the operation and activities of the Collaborative.  To date, NMSEC has received letters of support from New Mexico Governor Gary E. Johnson, U.S. Department of Energy-Albuquerque Operations Office, City of Albuquerque, Electric Power Research Institute, New Mexico Solar Energy Industries Association, Public Service Company of New Mexico, and private companies.
