1:30 p.m. Distributed generation
The purpose of this item is to (1) determine the regulatory barriers to different
distributed generation technologies; and (2) understand the experience of parties who
have had distributed generation technologies installed. Tom Corr will present the
views of the Electric Power Research Institute on regulatory barriers and
interconnection issues. Keith Davidson of OnSite Sycom, an energy service
company installing distributed generation, will respond to EPRI’s presentation.
Selected businesses using distributed generation will be hooked into the meeting via
conference call and asked to: (1) explain their motivations for considering distributed
generation; (2) describe their project; and (3) explain their experience to date (cost,
installation experience, performance). With the exception of PVs there has been
limited field experience with distributed generation technologies such as fuel cells and
micro turbines. However, the number of planned distributed generation projects is
growing rapidly.
