| DENVER -- Govs. Bill Richardson, Chairman of the
Western Governors' Association, and Bill Owens, WGA Vice Chairman,
announced today that Pam Inmann, a long-time public and state government
affairs director from Denver, has been selected by the governors to become
WGA’s new executive director.
“WGA is extremely effective at bringing together diverse constituencies to reach agreement and make real progress on some of the most contentious issues of the day, from energy policy to wildland fire management,” Gov. Richardson said. “Pam Inmann has demonstrated those same skills in both the public and private sector and will bring those leadership qualities to WGA.” Inmann began her career with the Colorado governor’s office in 1977. She recently retired from Altria Corporate Services, Inc. after more than 13 years as its Director of State Government Affairs for the Western district. Prior to that, she served for 10 years as Director of Special Projects for the Rocky Mountain Oil and Gas Association. "With her Western roots and extensive experience, Pam Inmann is the ideal choice to lead the Western Governors' Association,” Gov. Owens said. “The issues facing the Western region of our country are increasingly complex. The concerns are wide ranging, from natural resources to health care, from the environment to developing a strong Western economy. I know Pam will be a capable leader as we work together to address these challenges." Inmann said as the new executive director she is looking forward to working with the Western Governors' Association to develop policy affecting Western interests and advocating those policies before Congress and federal agencies. ”I am delighted to be working with such a dynamic, bipartisan organization,” Inmann said. Inmann will begin her new job March 22, 2004. She succeeds Jim Souby, who served as WGA’s executive director for 13 years before leaving in October 2003 to become CEO and President of the Oquirrh Institute. The Western Governors' Association is an independent, nonprofit organization representing the governors of 18 states and three U.S.-flag islands in the Pacific. Through their Association, the governors identify and address key policy and governance issues in natural resources, the environment, human services, economic development, international relations and public management.
