Diverse Resources, Greater Efficiency and Transmission: Measures for Preventing Potential Energy Shortages

Denver -- Western governors are urging Congress to adopt policies and incentives that could help prevent potential energy shortages by encouraging the development of diverse energy resources, efficiency measures and technology and additional transmission infrastructure.

The leadership of the Western Governors’ Association made their request in a letter to House and Senate members of the conference committee working to reach agreement on energy legislation. Signing on behalf of their WGA colleagues were Govs. Janet Napolitano (Ariz.), WGA Chair; Mike Rounds (S.D.), WGA Vice Chair; and the lead governors for energy issues: Govs. Bill Richardson (N.M.), Arnold Schwarzenegger (Calif.), Dave Freudenthal (Wyo.) and John Hoeven (N.D.).
