CDEAC - Energy EfficiencyTask Force

Excerpt from the WGA Policy Resolution: Clean and Diversified Energy Iniative for the West

“Western Governors will examine the feasibility of and actions that would be needed to…increase the efficiency of energy use by 20% by 2020. While energy efficiency does not eliminate the need for new generation, it is critical that western states pursue an energy efficient system.”

Charge to the Energy Efficiency Task Force

  • Estimate the current and expected amount and cost of energy efficiency resources available in the WGA region in 2020.
  • Develop the proposed metric for measuring achievement of the 20% efficiency goal.
  • Identify high priority efficiency measures. The Task Force should account for climate zone differences within the WGA region.
  • Identify barriers to achieving cost-effective efficiency measures and policies that would overcome such barriers.
  • Identify the preferred implementation vehicle (e.g., utility-run programs, state/local programs, tax incentives, state or federal standards) for priority efficiency measures.
