Task Force Purpose

At its April 2012 meeting, the SPSC authorized the development of a Variable Energy Resource (VER) Integration Dashboard. The purpose of the dashboard is to foster VER integration by providing a centralized repository for information on various measures being employed by the industry, identifying best practices, and highlighting emerging approaches.

The VER integration dashboard will track actions by segments of the industry (e.g., load-serving entities, BAs, transmission operators)  that lower the cost of integrating variable generation (e.g., wind/solar forecasting, intra-hour scheduling, flexibility of non-VER generation, demand response, fast dispatch markets, flexible reserve sharing, and dynamic transfers between BAs.)

To ensure the VER dashboard is useful to a range of stakeholders, the SPSC has established a guidance committee comprised of industry and state/provincial representatives. The purpose of the guidance committee is to provide advice to the SPSC on the dashboard form and content will offer the most value to the industry, regulators and policy makers.
