WGA urges the federal government to provide technical assistance for cybersecurity research and development

In correspondence with the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Communications and Technology, the Western Governors’ Association (WGA) urged the federal government to provide technical assistance for cybersecurity research and development. The letter of January 10, signed by WGA Executive Director Jack Waldorf, emphasized the importance of cybersecurity standards, such as the National Institute for Standards and Technology Cybersecurity Framework, as well as real-world simulations to facilitate effective risk-based decision making and prepare for potential threats to the nation's critical infrastructure. The transmittal also relayed Western Governors’ support for incentives to create and participate in programs that encourage information sharing across all levels of government, industry verticals, and regions.
