WGA encourages Congress to expand work-based learning and support high-quality career and technical education

In correspondence with the House Education and the Workforce Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education, the Western Governors' Association urged Congress to expand work-based learning and support high-quality career and technical education. “Governors encourage Congress to expand student access to skills training programs, including through extending Pell Grant program eligibility to high-quality, short-term training programs leading to industry-recognized credentials, to increase access and completion for adult learners,” the letter of January 18, 2023, signed by WGA Executive Director Jack Waldorf, read. “Western Governors also support the expansion of work-based learning programs, including registered apprenticeships.” Read the full transmittal for additional details.
