WGA Working Lands Roundtable

The Working Lands Roundtable is the ongoing implementation of WGA natural resource-focused initiatives. The Roundtable examines crosscutting policy issues by engaging a broad coalition of stakeholders. Its next meeting, "Collaboration and At-Risk Species Conservation," will be held in Denver on April 3-4.

Biosecurity and Invasive Species Initiative

The final workshop of the Biosecurity and Agriculture, was held Dec. 9-10 on the Island of Hawaii. The central policy initiative of WGA Chair Gov. Ige is focused on the impacts that nuisance species, pests and pathogens have on ecosystems, forests, rangelands, watersheds, and infrastructure in the West, and examining the role that biosecurity plays. Western Governors formally approved four policy resolutions at the Western Governors’ Association 2018 Winter Meeting on the Island of Hawaii. The resolutions announced cover a variety of issues, including foreign visitor preclearance, cybersecurity, compensatory mitigation and health care in western states.

Celebrate the West Art Competition

The 2018 art competition, which challenged high school students to create artwork inspired by their state, received more than 450 entries. The 2019 competition is now open.
